Last holiday, I went to Bangka on Tuesday, 19 December 2017. I went to
Bangka with my uncle, my auntie, and my cousins. I didn’t go with my parents
because they’re not interested. I went there by using airplane. Unfortunately,
there’s only one flight to Bangka from Bandung and the flight is on 7.10 p.m. On
the way to the airport, there was a lot of traffic that made us stressed,
because we were afraid we will miss our flight, but luckily, we arrived before
the plane took off. After we checked in at the airline desk, we went through
the security, and we handed over our luggage to the airport officer. Then we
went to the waiting room. It turned out that our plane was delayed for about a
half an hour. We took off at around 9 p.m.
We arrived at Depati Amir Airport at around 10 p.m.
The flight was rough because off the weather, but I was doing fine in the
plane. I didn’t felt nauseous or dizzy at all, I just felt a little pain in my
ear that I usually suffer whenever I ride a plane. Then we picked up our
luggage, and went to the nearest hotel to take a rest.
The next day, after we
had a breakfast and washed ourselves, we moved to a resort in Sungailiat and it
took about an hour to go there because it was far away from Pangkal Pinang, but
fortunately there wasn’t any traffic at all, unlikely in Bandung. On the way to
the resort, we stopped in some beaches and then we had our lunch in one of a
seafood restaurant there. Actually, it was hard for me to eat there because I don’t
really into seafood and there wasn’t a lot of fast food restaurant. And, there’s
no minimarket like Alfamart and Indomaret at all because the government forbid
that. They said the existence of minimarket like that made the citizens’
business bankrupt.
After the long ride, we
arrived at Parai Beach Resort. The resort was huge, but it was a little bit
creepy because it’s an old resort. There was a private beach in the resort but
unfortunately we couldn’t play in the beach because of the high waves.
There was a few of
trouble in the resort that made us disappointed, like the water heater suddenly
stopped working, even some of the bed there looked like it hasn’t been cleaned
yet by the maid. So we decided to move to a hotel in the city on the next day.
We finally checked out
from the resort. Actually, we already booked it for 3 days but the service
really disappointing, so we canceled it. So we went back to Pangkal Pinang and
booked 3 rooms for 2 days at Aston Soll Marina Hotel. Then we rest for a few
hours. My cousins and I decided to swimming in the hotel swimming pool. The
water was very cold, I couldn’t bear it so I just played there for around 15
minutes because I will sneeze non-stop if I felt cold. On the night, I went to
a café to have a light dinner because I already ate a cup of noodle in the
hotel.
The next day, we didn’t
go anywhere because the weather was worst, I was so frustrated because I couldn’t
do any water sports at all, and I failed to go snorkeling. So we just relaxed
on the hotel’s room and only went outside at lunch.
When the afternoon came, my uncle invited my cousins and I to go to eat
durian. But, I refused it because I couldn’t stand with the smell of durian. It
really made me want to throw up, so I decided I’ll just stayed in the hotel.
On the last day, we
checked out from the hotel at around 10 p.m. Then we went to Koba. We had lunch
at some of the Koba’s noodle restaurant. I thought the noodle will taste fine,
but it’s really didn’t suit my taste at all! The water felt like a fish, and I already
told you already that I’m not into seafood, I can say it was the worst thing I ate
in Bangka. So I didn’t continued to eat that thing, since it made me felt
nausea. After we had the worst lunch (for me) ever, we went to Kaolin Lake. It
has a clean white sand, and the color of the water is bright blue and green. Kaolin
Lake was once a mining area, then the people abandoned it. Even though it looks
beautiful, the water contains dangerous substance so we shouldn’t went to the
water at all.
After we looked at the great scenery, we bought souvenirs for other
relatives in Bandung. The famous souvenirs there are snacks, such as snacks
that was made from fish, shrimp, squid, and other sea food. We bought pempek
from there too!
It was almost 5 p.m. when we arrived at the airport. We ate at the café in
the airport to kill times, then we waited on the waiting room after we checked
in.
The waiting room was so crowded, there were a lot of people there! We
were having a hard times to find an empty seats for us, but happily, we finally
found some empty seats. The flight was delayed for around 15 minutes (better
than before), we took off at 8.30 p.m.
We finally arrived safely in Bandung at 9.20 p.m. I was so tired (even
though I didn’t do anything at all), and honestly I’m a little bit disappointed
with this trip because of the rough weather and high waves that made us couldn’t
played anything in the sea.
But I was okay with that, at least I didn’t stayed at home!
